The Life of a Student Reporter

A couple months ago I read a great book called Don't Make Me Think by Steve Krug and have recently found another great read. This time the book was called The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference and is by Malcolm Gladwell. Here's a quick summary of the book: Gladwell touched on how different ideas, concepts or social trends can spread extremely fast, gain popularity overnight and make incredible impacts on the world. He also touches on how smaller ideas or concepts can snowball into something bigger, causing new major impacts on how a person functions throughout their day-to-day life personally, socially, mentally, physically and professionally. As I teased in my previous blog post, I would like to introduce three more of my amazing classmates and newsroom peers. So, what am I waiting for? Let's dive in! The first up is the amazing, incredibly talented and one of the sweetest people I know,  Clarisa Melendez . I have had the opportunity to work alongside and personally know Clarisa for the past four years. During her four years at UF, Clarisa has worked for WUFT TV and FM covering stories for NPR on 89.1 FM and for WUFT First at Five. She's covered stories revolving around Hurricane Michael and the support relief after the storm as well as the penalties for bee colony thefts. When you walk into the newsroom on UF's campus, it'll be one hectic place but the people inside are one big family. We all work alongside each other for at least four years, build close bonds, act as a source of support and always strive to help each other out when times get tough. Of those in the newsroom that I am close friends with, I have been able to track down a few of their blogs. What I love the most about working with some of these amazing people is that we all have different interests, strengths and weaknesses. We all are different but come together and mesh to produce some of the most tremendous work you can find.
